p1080691Surging upward, out from the Montreal airport I experience a moment of mental tilt as we lift off for Rome. “Vertigo” –  as my daughter who loves word plays would say: “vertical I go”.  Is this mind-spin from the two glasses of Pinot Gris we had while waiting in the Air Canada lounge, or is it a pivotal point for embracing yet one more flight to Europe?I sit back in my seat and have a memory flashback of our old homestead in the wilderness of BC. I see me, in ragged blue jeans, walking from the barn with a full pail of milk from the cow I just sat under. A jet plane carves a white line across a blue sky as I walk back to the log cabin. And as I look up I imagine sophisticated people all dressed up with fresh drinks in their hand. Where are they heading to, I wonder? Then I whisper in despair, “There’s a whole other world out there and I’m not it in.”

Now I realize God has given us a key to schedule reality to accommodate our most passionate dreams! An ancient verse comes to my mind:

For I know the plans I have for you,”
declares the Lord, “plans to
prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

Many decades later, I’m being guided around the world’s continents by my travel-addicted husband! Here’s a short video clip we took on our first day in Rome!

Sean’s bent on accumulating memories for his bucket list of 100 countries. He’s up to 94 now, and this trip will top him out at 100. It will top my list out at 39! Imagine that.  Have you seen the glossy ads in the travel magazines with the lovely aging couple enjoying life? We’re going to try to be that couple! This next adventure is 21 day grand cruise to Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and then swooping down the Suez Canal, and dropping in on Jordan, Egypt, and two stops in Oman. The grand finale is Dubai!

But now in Rome as we walk across the bridge on the Tiber River, the sun turns the surface into a mirror of what is there exactly like it does in Canada. I think the world is a fascinating piece of rock, gyrating around our particular sun and I love every single human entity on it.

Shoot, I love every sub-human entity on it, strays cats, dogs, nine horses, my Jersey milk cow, one wild finch, and even a few close encounters with moose and grizzlies on our ranch in the wilderness.

My heart is full…with love toward my intrepid wise-guy guide and partner Sean, and for every other person I’m going to meet. I want to connect with them with an eye-to-eye, heart-to-heart, shy-smiling synapsis.

Tomorrow we’ve got tickets to visit the Vatican Museum. Of course were taking pictures and will let you see the inside of the Vatican on our next post!  Then it’s on to our Norwegian ship for the grand cruise!

PS. We’ve been blessed with a trip of a life time! Maybe you can too, by earning 30,000 free Aeroplan points for signing up with a TD Infinite Visa. And VacationsToGo.com is a great site for cruise tickets on sale for up to 80+% off.

Therefore, the first condition to activate the law of faith is to put implicit trust in God’s way of doing the impossible. If ever there were a nugget of truth worth memorizing, this is it:

I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
